Symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) cover a broad spectrum. The severity of emotional and physical symptoms can vary widely and may change from month to month.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine severe PMS is considered an indicator of an underlying imbalance.  Rather than just treating the symptoms, TCM focuses on correcting the imbalance, the source of the problem.

Menstruation

Acupuncture can improve the menstrual cycle so that it is comfortable and regular and doesn’t interfere with normal activities.

Chronic menstrual problems like heavy bleeding associated with fibroids and endometriosis and the related pain respond well to long term care.  The use of acupuncture and herbal medicine can remedy these conditions.

Menopause

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) menopause is not considered a syndrome, but a variety of qi problems such as constrained liver qi or kidney deficiency.   These issues are caused by imbalance in the body.

In TCM each woman is treated as an individual with her own specific symptoms.  Treatment is very individualized and may include acupuncture, herbal therapies, dietary changes, exercise and more.

The goal of treatment is to correct the imbalances and alleviate symptoms.
